Hi, I’m lindsey whitaker

I am a qualified Functional Nutritional Therapist, registered Nurse and Nutrigenomics Practitioner. Following years of experience working in the NHS, I recognised the challenges that many face in achieving positive health outcomes and became passionate about empowering individuals to achieve their healthiest selves through the power of good nutrition and lifestyle choices.

I studied at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, where I honed my expertise in functional nutrition and holistic health. As a qualified nutrigenomics practitioner with Lifecode Gx, I also have the expertise to interpret client genetic results and recommend appropriate nutrition and lifestyle changes. Nutrigenomics, or nutritional genomics, is a field of science that explores the relationship between the human genome, nutrition and health. Professionals in this field aim to understand how the entire body responds to food through systems biology, as well as how individual genes interact with specific food compounds. I also hold qualifications in exercise, fitness and wellness therapies, though I found that functional nutrition was where I could make the most significant impact on people's wellbeing.

Residing in the countryside I enjoy an active lifestyle, and can often be found socialising at local cafes, exploring the outdoors, or spending time with my family.

I am committed to enhancing overall health and wellbeing through personalised nutritional guidance. I provide expert advice on nutrition and lifestyle to help to manage chronic health conditions, maintain optimal health and reduce the risk of disease, using tailored nutritional and lifestyle strategies.

I hold a particular interest in supporting women with their hormonal health, understanding the unique challenges they face and providing tailored solutions to enhance their quality of life. My compassionate approach and extensive knowledge make me a trusted ally in the journey towards optimal health and wellness.

What is functional nutritional therapy?

Functional nutrition is a holistic approach to health that focuses on the unique genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that influence an individual’s well-being.

Unlike conventional nutrition, which often emphasises calorie counting and general dietary guidelines, functional nutrition delves deeper to address the root causes of health issues. This approach aims to restore balance and promote long-term wellness by looking beyond symptom management.

Central to functional nutrition is the belief that food is medicine.

It involves personalised diet and lifestyle plans tailored to support the optimal function and healing of the body. By understanding how different foods and nutrients impact various body systems, functional nutritionists create customised strategies that not only alleviate symptoms but also enhance overall health and vitality.

Functional nutrition also emphasises the importance of understanding the interconnectedness of body systems. It considers how factors such as stress, sleep, physical activity, and environmental exposures influence health outcomes.

By taking a comprehensive view, functional nutrition seeks to optimise all aspects of an individual’s lifestyle to achieve the best possible health outcomes.

Whether you are dealing with chronic conditions, hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, or simply looking to enhance your overall well-being, working with a functional nutritional therapist will provide a framework for achieving sustainable health through targeted nutritional and lifestyle changes.

This personalised approach empowers individuals to take control of their health, leading to improved energy levels, better mental clarity, and a higher quality of life.
